The Sixth Form have been involved with Cambridge’s HE Plus programme for the past couple of years now. The programme is designed to stretch and challenge students’ intellectual curiosity and make their UCAS applications more competitive. As part of the scheme, 3 of our Year 13 students were invited to attend a two day residential trip to St. John’s College, Cambridge University. Students were able to attend STEM or humanities academic sessions, subject taster sessions and a critical thinking workshop. They also got to experience daily life in the college setting and some free time exploring the city and all it has to offer including its stunning architecture at every turn. The students that attended the trip – Louis Oram, Marek Jasinski and Gil Echejoh – engaged with all aspects of the visit with great enthusiasm and were a credit to both their families and St. Mary’s.
