STEM Club: Inside the Kidney

A science laboratory scene where a female sixth-form student in a grey hoodie stands at the end of a long lab bench, demonstrating a kidney dissection. A large group of younger school students in uniform—white shirts, ties, and grey sweaters—stand closely around the other side of the bench, watching her demonstration with focused attention. On the table are dissection trays, tools, textbooks, and lab equipment.

Recently, members of our STEM club dove into the world of anatomy with a hands-on kidney dissection. The session offered a brilliant opportunity to look beyond the textbook and explore the inner workings of the body first-hand.

We were incredibly fortunate to have the session led by Nadia, one of our wonderful sixth-form students. Nadia delivered an excellent demonstration, showing the younger students how to approach the dissection safely and precisely. Under her expert guidance, club members learned exactly how a kidney functions and why anatomical dissections remain such a vital tool in medical science.

Thank you to Nadia for inspiring our younger peers, and well done to all the attendees for displaying such curiosity and maturity throughout the afternoon.
