Our Sixth Form Community

St. Mary’s offers a modern and innovative Sixth Form experience, where students receive individual attention and support from experienced staff to help them reach their full potential. With a wide range of courses to choose from, our Sixth Form strikes the perfect balance between being small enough to provide a personalised approach, yet large enough to offer a diverse and enriching curriculum.

Our Sixth Form fosters a strong sense of community, thanks to our designated learning spaces, shared social areas and mixed tutor groups. This encourages students to develop friendships across both year groups, while also providing the opportunity for peer-based coaching in specific subjects.

Our Sixth Form tutors are highly dedicated and provide exceptional pastoral care to our students. Made up of A-level teachers from a range of subject backgrounds, they offer personalised support on a wide range of topics, including study-related queries, UCAS applications, CVs, and references.

At St. Mary’s, we actively encourage students to participate in enrichment activities that foster community engagement and develop leadership skills. Our students are involved in a variety of activities, including student-led interventions within the academy, peer mentoring younger students in learning support, supporting practical-based KS3 lessons, volunteering at Trinity Hospice, Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Woodlands, and even participating in a short placement in Nepal. We also provide opportunities for student voice and active leadership, which enable our students to influence the direction of our Sixth Form.
