Course Description

This Textile design course provides students with a wide range of creative, exciting and stimulating opportunities to explore their interests in both fashion and interiors in a variety of different ways. The course explores design, prototyping and the creation of products for woven, knitted, stitched, printed textiles for functional and non functional products. Textile Design helps to improve your thinking, communication, interpersonal, practical, creative and ICT skills. Students will work in some of the following areas using specialist equipment such as a CAD CAM embroidery machine, laser cutter; fabric printing techniques, garment construction methods, surface embellishment and decorative techniques. Consistent 100% Pass Rate.

Future Opportunities

Following a GCSE in Textile Design can lead to AS and A level Art and Design courses such as Graphic Communication, Fine Art and Photography in our Sixth Form or a Textile course at a chosen college which then allows entrance to University degree courses. We have close links with Blackpool and Fylde College who take A level students on to their Foundation Course before going on to specialise at University in careers such as: Architecture, Advertising, Animation, Computer Aided Design, Graphic design, Interior design, Illustration, Fashion Design, Film, Media Studies, Museum Curator, Textile Design, Art Therapy work, Photographer, Product Designer, Landscape Architect, Web Design, Teaching and many other options.
