Year 7 win Blackpool League Competition

Y7 Bpool League Competition Winners

Year 7 won the Blackpool League finishing unbeaten in all three games and not conceding a goal. The Tournament was made even more poignant as all the teams celebrated Remembrance Day wearing poppies at the start and Highfield students doing prayers.

In the first game they played Highfield and a goal by Burgess in the first minute set the tone for the game. In a one sided game St Mary’s dominated from start to finish scoring eight goals without reply. Campbell, Wallace, netted the other goals whilst Gill also scored with a contender for goal of the season.

Year 7 WinnersIn the second game they played St Georges. Despite constant early pressure they could not break down a well organised defence. Lees and Smith dominated the midfield whilst Gudlak and Dabija played well in defence. An own goal and a strike from Smith ensured a 2 – 0 win.

In the final game it was a winner take all situation against Montgomery as both teams had won their games and had identical goal difference. It was a very tense affair with chances few and far between. Thain, Goodison and Shaw were outstanding in defence. St Marys began to dominate in the second half and were rewarded when Lees stabbed in from close range. However it took an amazing save from Henshall Flynn in the dying minutes to ensure victory.

A great team performance after the disappointment of the previous evening.

Congratulations go to Nicholas Henshall Flynn, Jacob Gudlak, Ethan Shaw, Christos Thain, Gabriel Dabija, Luke Smith, Alex Lees, Jake Wallace, Jensen Burgess, Lucas Goodison, Xavier Gill, Connor Campbell.
