Information about Mr Simon Marsh (Previous Employee)

Mr Simon Marsh, a former member of staff, resigned from St Mary’s in April 2017. Following his resignation he was referred to the Teacher Regulation Agency; the case was heard in February 2019 and the report published last Thursday. Prior to this neither the Trust nor St. Mary’s were able to comment due to the on-going investigation.

Having given due consideration to the report, over the last few days, we are satisfied with the outcome of this case and the proportionate response to the panel’s findings. The panel found allegations in relation to inappropriately touching pupils, and failing to follow previous management advice to be proven. They concluded that this amounted to unacceptable professional conduct and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute. The Secretary of State decided not to impose a prohibition order in this case.

The case highlights the strength of implementation of the school’s policy and procedures and the trust the pupils have in staff; confident to share their concerns.

S. Tierney,
CEO BEBCMAT
