SPAIN 2006

ImageOn 16th February 14 students set off on a five day break to the Costa del Sol as part of their Travel & Tourism or Geography A level course. The Geography team, led by Mrs Thomasson and Ms Riley, was looking at the land usage around Torremolinos and Benalmadena Costa as examples of urban growth. The Travel and Tourism Group with Mr Robinson and Mr Slack were completing a piece of coursework on the facilities in and around Torremolinos and the excursions available to clients staying in the area. We flew from Blackpool International Airport to Malaga and then picked up a mini-bus to take us to our splendid accommodation at the Hotel Natalie – known for its extensive facilities and free water. In the few days we were there we visited the caves and beaches at Nerja, the ‘white village’ of Frigilliana, the city of Granada, the ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada, the commune of Benalmadena Pueblo and the cable car ride behind Arroyo de la Miel. There are some photos of the groups working, snowballing, swimming, ten-pin bowling but fortunately none of the Karaoke evening. Planning is now well underway for the next trip; any Year 11 students would be well advised to get their options sheets in early if they wish to join the expeditions next year.
