Sixth Form Arrangements For The Start Of Term
The new guidance tells Headteachers that students should be given the chance to carry out two voluntary lateral flow tests at least three days apart before returning to school. The tests should be carried out at school. Schools are allowed to test up to three working days before the start of term and they can stagger the start of the year to carry this out.
Asymptomatic testing at St Mary’s for our Sixth Formers (both Year 12 and Year 13) will take place on Thursday 2nd and Monday 6th September between 1:15pm – 4:00pm. Students should come to the Sports Hall between these times to be tested. Once tested students can go home and they will be contacted if there is a positive result.
We look forward to welcoming you back into the Sixth Form (after testing) on Tuesday 7th September 2021. Students should arrive by 8:35am at the main entrance where staff will welcome you into the Academy.
Periods 1 and 2 will be spent with form tutors and Period 3 will be a normal timetabled lesson. I can confirm that the lessons on at this time include: Politics, Sociology, Performing Arts, English Language, Art, Graphics and Further Maths.
If you are able to, please bring an electronic device (e.g. a laptop or an Ipad rather than a mobile phone) to access the internet during the morning with your form tutor. If you have a lesson Period 3, please ensure you are fully equipped for this lesson.
