GCSE Photography gives students the opportunity to explore and develop skills and understanding of photography, the history and the use of digital media, whilst developing students’ own creativity and innovation. Portfolio projects require practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas, including digital outdoor photography, photographic work with professional studio equipment, creating images using mixed media and building skills using digital manipulation software (post production). The course requires commitment, resources and a special interest in the subject due to the expectation to attend extra-curricular sessions, as well as to produce an amount of practical photographic work outside of the academy day. Access to a camera is essential.
This subject is an ideal option for students who are creatively inclined and wish to study the subject for their own interest, to learn new skills or that they wish to pursue a career in; Advertising, Animation, Architect, Arial Photographer, Camera Operator, Fashion promotion, Filmmaking, Graphic design, Interior and spatial design, Light and Sound Engineering, Multimedia Photography (for companies to advertise products in the media), Sign making, Visual communications, Web designer, Work in television or media.
