The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Review

  • Dominic

Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.

Year 7 Literary Canon - Book 1

Huckleberry Finn begins with Huck, the main character, living with Widow Douglas near the Mississippi River. He flees from Widow Douglas and sets off to start a whole series of adventures. He meets Tom Sawyer and Jim, a runaway slave, on his travels. The adventures they then have are for you to read about. This book is very good and made all the more exciting by the new characters you are introduced to along the way. It provided me with an opportunity to consider how different life was in America in the 19th century. My favourite part of the book is when Huck and Tom devise an elaborate plan to break Jim out of prison. This is a rapidly moving book that I would definitely recommend. My advice would be to take your time with the words and the language.

5* review.
