Goodbye to Mrs Buckley

Mrs BuckleyThe PE Department would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Buckley for her incredible service to St.Mary's over the past 17 years. She joined the school straight from completing her PGCE and has given 17 dedicated years to bettering the lives of the young people she has met in her care. In her time at the school she has led numerous school teams to cup glory, started whole school initiatives such as the active lunch programme and taught with passion and enthusiasm. We will all miss her greatly. We wish her luck working for S23 Fitness in her exciting new family venture.

Goodbye to Miss Preston & Mr Baugh

The English Department would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Preston and Mr Baugh for their dedication and enthusiasm over the years they have worked with us here at St Mary’s.

Miss PrestonMiss Preston started at St Mary’s as an NQT in 2012 and both students and staff alike immediately recognised what a wonderful teacher she was. She has inspired students across all Key Stages and her love of Literature has been passed on to her students through everyday teaching, her work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and her many reading initiatives. We wish her the best of luck as she embarks on her new journey at a school closer to her home and family.

Mr BaughMr Baugh first joined us at St Mary’s as a PGCE student in 2014; however, he was no stranger to the school as it was at St Mary’s that he spent 7 years as a student before going on to study at Oxford University. Unable to stay away, he joined our teaching staff and has inspired his colleagues and students with his vast knowledge and vocabulary ever since! Mr Baugh has thoroughly enjoyed teaching all age groups, and also stepped outside of English to teach A-Level Politics. We wish him every success as he moves on to focus on his A-Level teaching at a 6th Form College.

Welcome to Aspens, our new school meals provider

Aspens is the company chosen by St. Mary's to provide the meal service.  We specialise in providing catering to schools and colleges across the country.

The food children eat at school plays an important role in their wellbeing, and eating a well balanced diet will not only maintain and improve their health, but will also set them on the right track for later life. We understand this and that’s why we are passionate about serving fresh, high quality and locally sourced food that is cooked in our kitchen.

Lots of choice

We have a fantastic range to choose from and we make sure that we serve the variety of food that children like and want to eat. It’s not all about eating vegetables and fruit - although we do make sure we get our balance right!

Responsible catering

At Aspens - we take our responsibility of catering for today’s children and young adults seriously. All of our dishes are prepared everyday using quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients that are responsibly sourced.

As well as ensuring the food on the plate is healthy, we want our customers to understand the importance of eating the right foods and help them with their food and nutrition journey.

Special diets and food allergens

Don’t think our great food can’t be enjoyed if you have a special diet.  We can provide food an intolerance, an allergy, or require an alternative choice due to religious beliefs.

Legislation requires caterers to provide allergen information on food sold that is served ‘unpackaged’. Aspens already cater for lots of children with allergies and we regularly check the information from suppliers to see if there have been any ingredient changes. It is still important that our customers talk to us so we can work together and continue to provide meals that are safe for them to eat.

Free school meals

Did you know that your child might be entitled to free school meals?  For more information and details on how to claim, visit

Great value for money

We have a range of meal deals on offer every day to help save money.  Whether they want a hot meal or something to just grab and go, there will be an offer available. We also run a range guest offers and special theme days to create a buzz in the dining room.
