Course Description

In English Language, students are encouraged to become critical readers of a range of texts, and fluent, accurate writers, choosing content and adapting style and language to a wide range of forms. Students are also challenged to select and adapt speech to different situations and audiences. Students will continue to improve the skills which have been developed during their KS3 studies. The course is split into two areas: Reading literary and non-fiction texts, and writing. There is also an element of Spoken Language in which students are assessed on their ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Students will be awarded a separate qualification certificate for this.
