As students gathered to collect their envelopes this morning, there were smiles across the room—and for several of our high achievers, their success was so big it warranted celebrating in more than one photo!
Celebrating Our High Achievers
Special recognition goes to our top performers and shining stars. Between them, this standout group captured an amazing haul of top grades:
- 15 Grade 9s
- 20 Grade 8s
- 33 Grade 7s
- 3 Distinction* grades
- 4 Distinction grades
Their incredible results reflect years of hard work and are testament to their work and determination.
Results Surpass Pre-Pandemic Levels
These individual triumphs contribute to a pleasing overall performance across the entire year group, with achievements at St Mary’s surpassing pre-pandemic levels from 2019.
The Academy is delighted to report that our Attainment 8 score—which measures performance across a broad range of 8 subjects—has increased once again, reflecting our commitment to a broad, balanced curriculum.
- English: 72% of students achieved Grade 4 or better.
- Maths: 66% of students achieved Grade 4 or better.
- Combined Success: Over 60% of students secured a Grade 4+ in both English and Maths.
Students performed exceptionally well across academic subjects—including English, Maths, Science, Computer Science, Art and Photography, French, Geography, Media, and Textiles—as well as in vocational courses such as Business Studies, Creative Design, ICT, and PE.

Headteacher, Mr Simon Eccles, commented:
“We are delighted for our students. They have worked extremely hard and should be immensely proud of their achievements. Our staff have once again gone above and beyond to support them in preparing for these important qualifications.
This success reflects our commitment to offering a broad, supportive curriculum where every student can excel. I would like to thank our families for their partnership and support throughout their children’s journey with us. We look forward to welcoming many of our Year 11s back into Year 12 this September.”
