Ethos Day: Raising Refugee Awareness and Catholic Social Teaching

Mr Eccles and Mr Allan with Ethos Day Guests

The goal of the day was to raise awareness about the challenges and experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and promote Catholic Social Teaching about human dignity, solidarity and the common good. It was designed to inspire action and to support their cause.

The students enjoyed an engaging day where they heard from two guest speakers in the Chapel. They were mesmerised by the stories of Firas who was forced to flee Syria and Katya, a refugee from Ukraine.

Students also took part in a simulation game where they put themselves in the shoes of refugees. Finally, every student contributed to a collage which will be displayed at the front of the Academy as a mark of our solidarity for all our brothers and sisters.

The artwork will culminate in a collage to be displayed at the entrance to the Academy
